CBSE UGC NET exam pattern till 2017 was conducted in three sessions wherein candidates had to sit for three different papers. However, from 2018 NTA UGC NET exam pattern is changed. Going forward, candidates have to appear for two papers only.

The official notification on the website says, “Paper I is designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.” Paper II will consist of questions based on the subject selected by the candidate.”
Marking scheme: Two marks will be awarded for each correct answer. There is no negative marking in the exam
Highlight: Unlike the previous session of NTA NET Exam, this year, there will be no break between Paper 1 & Paper 2. The exam will be held in a single 3 hours session
UGC NET 2017 exam pattern was such that three different papers (Paper I, II, and III) were conducted in three sessions. Candidates had to sit for all the three papers in order to be eligible for being awarded JRF and Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor only.
